Self-Portrait

Self-Portrait
I was kicked out of everywhere
but the imagination. And the beaches
of the world. And the light
in spring. Streets after rain.
Last cigarette of summer.
Last call. I was welcomed
by the strays. I was another
stranger walking home.
Child who drowned in a river.
Actor who went off script.
The moon in the sky.
The sky in the world.
The immeasurable beyond this
where I am these blue doors
waiting for you.

Oh, Alex.
Ah love swings here, a beat of nature’s voice.
