Dizzy’s
Dizzy’s
A friend of mine says
it’s good to see jazz alone.
I live like a bachelor.
Sitting at the bar at Dizzy’s
like I stood in the back
of Preservation Hall.
Pain is itself next to beauty.
It takes off its coat.
I like being in a room
where no one knows me
but it turned out to be a life.
In the gentlemen’s,
I am the only gentleman.
I stare at my face.
Could have been a lot worse
(know what I mean).
The days are colder.
The notes slower than a whiskey neat.
And the past, I wouldn’t change it
but I never loved it.
It took me all this, to see that.
noooooo i love this one
I like being in a room
where no one knows me
